During March, the United States Coast Guard and the Nation celebrates Women’s History Month. This is a period of time to recognize the important contributions women have made historically and in today’s society.
To celebrate this observance, the Connecticut-Rhode Island-Long Island (CT-RI-LI) chapter of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) is capturing stories of the role of women in the lives of Coast Guardians and the Service.
All Coast Guard members (military, civilian, cadets) can share their stories which could be featured in a Coast Guard Academy Museum exhibit, showcasing the impact that women have had on the Service and the lives of its members.
Consider sharing a story of a Coast Guard woman past or present who has made or is making an impact on your life. To submit your story, please fill out this form by March 20th. Any questions can be sent Lt. Shirley Pilkey at Shirley.C.Pilkey@uscg.mil.
The Coast Guard’s WLI is an organization whose mission is to support professional development and mentorship opportunities for Coast Guard women in the Service and beyond. There are different chapters located throughout the Service and it is open to all Coast Guard personnel. If you are interested in learning more, attending an event, or joining the WLI, please reach out to Emily Herbette at eherbette@cgaalumni.org.
