Coast Guard members and civilian boat crews are working to boom off inlets to these areas in order to prevent contamination of one of the Gulf Coast's most sensitive ecosystems.

The funding decision supports restoration activities spanning the Gulf Coast states impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill

The monthlong course, which is open to a select few senior enlisted leaders from other military services, helps prepare new Coast Guard chiefs for the increased responsibility they take on as members of the Chief Petty Officer Corps.
