Standard cutter logs are boring...by design. But, on New Year’s, we all get to have a little fun. In the Coast Guard and other sea-going services, writing the Jan. 1 midwatch watch log entry in poem form is a storied tradition. For one day a year, poems take place of the (boring) standard watch entry format.
We are hosting the New Year’s watch log entry series and will publish an anthology of the best submissions from across the service. Please send in your watch log entry to MyCG (MyCG@uscg.mil) by Jan. 6 and include the author’s name.
