Coast Guard Mutual Assistance seeks new volunteers

By MyCG Staff

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is seeking eight new volunteers from the Coast Guard family to help guide its mission by joining its board. As a board member, you will play a key role in shaping policies and overseeing financial decisions that secure CGMA's financial health and ensure its continued ability to serve.

This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience while contributing to the well-being of the Coast Guard community, both today and for future generations. For over 100 years, CGMA has been the official military aid society of the Coast Guard, providing vital financial assistance to members and their families during challenging times. Serving on the Board offers the personal satisfaction of knowing you are making a lasting difference in the lives of those who serve.

The CGMA Board of Directors includes twenty positions of elected volunteers from a cross-section of various Coast Guard communities. Board members normally serve for a period of three years. Eight positions will become vacant on July 1, 2025. The deadline for application is Jan. 13, 2025.

The 2025 vacancies are for the following positions:

  • Commissioned Officer (Active Duty O5 & Above)
  • Commissioned Officer (Active Duty O1 thru O4)
  • Chief Warrant Officer (Active Duty W2 thru W4)
  • Alternate for Chief Petty Officer (Active Duty E7 thru E9)
  • Enlisted (Active Duty E4 thru E6)
  • Medical/Tricare Specialist (Active Duty HS or CWO Med)
  • IT/Cyber Specialist (Active Duty Enlisted/Officer E6 and O3 & Above)
  • Commissioned Officer's Spouse

CGMA is seeking applicants with expertise in data analytics, cyber/IT, multimedia and social media management, communications and public affairs, as well as training and education. Ideal candidates will have experience in overseeing these areas, with a focus on leveraging technology and media to enhance organizational growth and engagement.
