Special Duty Pay and Assignment Pay updates announced

By Kathy Murray, Senior Writer, MyCG

The Coast Guard has updated the Special Duty Pay (SDP) and Assignment Pay (AP) lists for Fiscal Year 2025.

Most of the FY25 SDP and AP requirements and pay levels are unchanged from FY24, but there are some revisions, so affected members should take time to review the lists.

Special Duty Pay and Assignment Pay are designed to incentivize members taking on certain critical roles and assignments. The amounts and criteria are reviewed each year and adjusted based on Coast Guard needs, resources, and organization priorities. New requests and are also considered during the annual panel.

What are the pay rates?

Monthly SDP and AP levels haven’t changed since last year and are as follows:

   SD-1 - $75                 AP-1 - $75

   SD-2 - $150                AP-2 - $150

   SD-3 - $225                AP-3 - $225

   SD-4 - $300                AP-4 - $300

   SD-5 - $375                AP-5 - $375

   SD-6 - $450                AP-6 - $450
