Your civilian checklist for the July 4th holiday and bonus time off

By Zach Shapiro, MyCG Staff

With the July 4 holiday fast approaching, it’s a good time to go through your checklist for the day and any fun activities or travel you have planned. Don’t forget:

  • Sunscreen for any outdoor activities
  • Bug spray to protect from mosquitos
  • Water bottle(s) to stay hydrated
  • Your completed Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS)

Yes, you read that right. Make sure you complete the FEVS survey before July 4 so you can receive an extra four hours of bonus administrative leave and stretch that holiday into something longer! To receive your four hours of bonus leave for completing the FEVS, please follow these instructions

The Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) annual government-wide FEVS launched on May 21 and will close on July 5, 2024. The survey is open to all permanent and non-permanent employees, non-political appointee Coast Guard employees who onboarded by November 2023 and have a valid CG email address (.mil or uscg.edu).

If you have any technical difficulties with the survey, you should reply to the original email from OPM or contact evhs@opm.gov. For more information about the Coast Guard FEVS, please see the FEVS SharePoint page.
