The Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association is hosting a Community Healing Event for survivors of sexual assault and harassment and their allies.
The event will kick off with an opening reception on the evening of Nov. 14 and continue Nov. 15 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in Arlington, Virginia. To ensure attendee privacy and to create a trauma-informed environment focused on healing and support, this event will not be open to a virtual audience or be recorded.

“Healing from sexual assault and sexual harassment looks different for different people,” said Capt. Andrea Marcille (ret.), CG Alumni Association President. “And we acknowledge that no single event can heal a survivor or our communities. Rather, our goal in hosting this event is to provide another avenue of conversation around how to continue to move forward in addressing the issue of sexual assault and sexual harassment and better support our communities.”

The Commandant, Adm. Linda Fagan, with the 23rd Commandant of the Coast Guard, Adm. Thad Allen (ret.), will close the event. Other Coast Guard speakers will include:
The CGA Alumni Association is also bringing in Veterans Affairs Military Sexual Trauma Services Coordinator and Women’s Health Clinic Psychologist, Dr. Valene Whittaker, and the Senior Consultants for RAINN, Laura Simms and Jessica St. Germaine. RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the Nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800-656-HOPE) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense.
