Let your voice be heard - 2023 USCG Organizational Assessment Survey now open

By Future Force Project Division (CG1B1)

The 2023 Coast Guard Organizational Assessment Survey (CG-OAS), a powerful organizational improvement tool, is open from now to Nov. 10. Take the survey today!

The CG-OAS serves as a valuable tool, but its effectiveness depends on your participation and your voice is pivotal to its efficacy. Please take the time to complete this important survey and encourage your team to do the same.

OPM has sent email invitations to all Coast Guard active duty, selected reserve, and civilian members. The email will show up in your inbox as being from USA Survey. These emails will enable user-specific access to the survey, which should NOT be forwarded to others. The survey will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and is confidential.

The CG-OAS has been conducted biennially since 2002, and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has been producing multi-year trend reports from this data (since 2002) to assess culture change within the Coast Guard. The CG-OAS is designed to provide employees an opportunity to express opinions regarding policies, initiatives, and their overall work culture. We will use the feedback gained through this survey to evaluate and modernize our personnel processes, policies, and practices. The survey results inform leadership, and change processes throughout the Coast Guard.

Members who are underway on cutters and experience connectivity problems should complete the survey upon return to port. Survey administration is planned to end on or about Nov. 10, 2023. Cutters that need additional time for members to complete the survey should contact the CG-OAS program manager by email to coordinate additional time.

A high level of participation means that more voices will be heard, data will be accurate, and results will be meaningful, to reflect employee needs and concerns. Based on survey results, Coast Guard leaders can take action to improve working culture and environment. Please participate as your feedback is critical in the planning and execution of work-life programs, training opportunities, and retention programs.

CG-wide results and a snapshot of unit/command level results will be organized and made available on CGBI and the CG-OAS SharePoint page. The previous unit results from the CG-OAS are available on this page as well. From the OAS Administration landing page, find “OAS” on the left side of the screen and explore the tabs.

For more information about the OAS survey, please email the CG-OAS program manager, Mrs. Jeyanthi Flora Wesley, at jeyanthiflora.wesley@uscg.mil.
