Coast Guard completes human resources record transition

By Zach Shapiro, MyCG Writer

The Coast Guard completed the transition to the new interactive personnel electronic records management system (iPERMS) for military human resources records on Oct. 31. iPERMS will allow military members of the Coast Guard to have their records updated seamlessly. The Coast Guard Military Human Resources Records Section (CGMHRR) strongly encourages members to utilize their personnel and administrative (P&A) office to update their human resources records promptly.

Under the previous system, documents were retained both online and in hard copy, and “no one had real-time view of their records,” said Michael Lemorie, CGHMRR program manager.

Now that real-time updates are possible, it is imperative that members ensure that their records are up to date, especially when considering new assignments, or seeking promotions or special pay. “CGMHRR is the record that drives your career,” Lemorie noted. Inaccuracies in a member’s CGMHRR could cause issues and delays in the assignment and advancement processes, and beyond.

The Personnel Service Center’s CGMHRR section will continue to upgrade iPERMS as necessary. “As we identify issues, we have a robust capability to solve them quickly,” Lemorie added. The section looks forward to hearing the workforce’s feedback and to continuing to streamline the system.
