Financial resources for Coast Guard families that can help you plan during tough economic times

By Keisha Reynolds, MyCG Writer

Inflation recently increased to 9.1% in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report. The price for gas, housing, and groceries are contributing factors of the rising inflation rate.

During these critical times, it is important for Coast Guard families to be aware of available resources and information that may help:

  • Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA): Offers a variety of grants and zero-interest loans. Programs are available for emergency assistance, permanent change of station (PCS) moves, baby formula shipment, and more. Visit their webpage for the most up to date information.
  • Commissary: Use military discounts to shop and save at your commissary or grocery store: shop smart and use the Commissary Reward Card
  • Local Housing Office: Before you PCS, be sure to speak with your local housing officer to discuss the housing options in many locations. Please visit the Housing Management website  for additional information.
  • Financial Health: If you are interested in developing a spending plan, contact your local personal financial managers (PFM), your assigned command financial specialist (CFS), or a CG SUPRT Money Coach for assistance.
