OPM virtual roadshow continues with session on aviation assignments

By Nicole Bertrand, MyCG writer

Officers will have the chance to learn about aviation assignments by attending the Officer Personnel Management’s (OPM’s) upcoming one-hour virtual roadshow event, June 22 at 2 p.m. Eastern.

This session will feature aviation assignment officers (AOs) who will provide updates on how assignment year 2022 (AY22) went, as well as give guidance for the upcoming assignment season. There will be a specific focus on eResumes and fielding your questions on how to manage your careers in preparation for future promotion boards or command screening panels.

This session is a great time to ask about the many command opportunities, leadership positions, and staff assignments within the aviation community. The event will also have representation from the OPM-4 to answer your questions about dual track, subspecialties, and broadening assignment opportunities.

“We’ve held a number of virtual and in-person events with wardrooms this year and see a lot of value coming from them,” said Lt. Cmdr. Dan Cloonan, aviation assignment officer. “It’s a great chance for us, as assignment officers, to connect with aviators and answer their questions.  I’m looking forward to it and hope we get a lot of participants!”

If you are interested in attending, send an email to receive an invitation link. There is one remaining OPM roadshow session on chief warrant officer assignments on July 20 at 2 p.m. Eastern. If you want to attend that session as well, please specify that in your email.

OPM encourages you to listen to last year’s virtual roadshow recordings in advance of attending the upcoming session. The recordings provide a refresher on the assignment process and serve address topics that OPM-2 covers each year. You can find them on OPM-4’s Portal page. Additionally, units can request in person roadshows by sending an email
