Attend OPM’s virtual roadshow and learn about managing a response career

By Nicole Bertrand, MyCG writer

Attend the Officer Personnel Management (OPM) virtual roadshow on response assignments April 27 at 2 p.m. EST. You will have the opportunity to hear from experts and ask questions about best practices to position yourself to screen for response commands and how to compete for leadership positions within the response community.

This event is the fifth of 10 sessions on various important topics in an officer’s career. The session will feature the response assignment officers and provide updates on how assignment year 2022 (AY22) went, as well as give guidance for the upcoming assignment season. There will be a specific focus on eResumes and taking your questions on how to best plan your career as a response ashore officer. The experts will also discuss timing for PG school and how to best manage a dual career track.

“We’re looking forward to engaging with officers and wardrooms on how the assignment process works, to dispelling myths, and providing best practices and tips for a response career path, as well as fielding whatever questions they want to ask,” said Lt. Cmdr. Eddie Kunigonis, senior response assignment officer.

If you are interested in attending, email OPM and you will receive the attendance invitation email with a link.  You can also specify if you would like to attend any of the remaining sessions by listing the events and dates from this earlier MyCG article.

Commands are encouraged to watch the videos immediately preceding the Virtual Roadshows to bolster wardroom conversations and create unit specific questions. You are highly encouraged to listen to a recording of last year’s corresponding virtual roadshow session available on OPM-4’s portal page to prepare for the upcoming event.
