See the Coast Guard Band on its Southern Connections Tour

By Lt. Rachel Ault, MyCG Writer

The Coast Guard Band will be providing free performances throughout the southeastern United States in early April as part of its Southern Connections tour. Each performance - April 1-12, 2022 - is free of charge; however, advance tickets may be required at some locations.

The Band schedules one national tour per year that rotates between selected Coast Guard districts, providing a must-see experience for the public. The 55-member band plays from a repertoire that includes works ranging from patriotic classics to new music by American composers.

This is the first time since 2008 that the full Coast Guard Band will return to the southern states. They will be performing at Coast Guard Sectors Charleston, S.C., Jacksonville, Fla., Miami, and St. Petersburg, Fla. The tour will also include performances in Duncan (Greenville), Lexington (Columbia), and Summerville (Charleston), S.C., and St. Augustine, Melbourne, Parkland, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, Pembroke Pines, Coral Gables, and St. Petersburg, Fla.

“We are thrilled to be returning to the southeastern United States to reconnect with the communities in that region. Our concerts are sure to provide an electric atmosphere that I’m certain audiences will love,” said Coast Guard Band director Cmdr. Adam Williamson. “The South is such a vibrant region and is home to many vital Coast Guard missions. We are looking forward to inspiring and entertaining our audiences throughout the South with our unique and classic performances.”

The Southern Connections tour supports the Coast Guard Band’s mission to promote goodwill for the Coast Guard by enhancing pride within the service, supporting Coast Guard recruiting activities, and performing for official functions. Established in 1925 the Band is the Coast Guard’s only professional musical ensemble.
