Looking for a way to give back? The Coast Guard Academy is seeking volunteers to help recruitment efforts.
Here’s a chance to work alongside admissions staff to help educate, recruit and even mentor future cadets and Coast Guard Officers. While COVID has limited personal outreach to schools and organizations, virtual options enable you to contribute the required two to four hours of service a year.
The opportunity is open to any Active Duty and Reserve members in good standing, as well as civilians. You can apply to participate through Academy Admissions Partners (AAP), a volunteer organization that has worked with the academy since 2006, or the Coast Guard Academy Minority Outreach Team (AMOT) a group of African American, Asian and Hispanic volunteers that has done much to promote diversity and support the Coast Guard Academy Scholars Program.
All volunteers must pass a background check, complete required training and, in most cases, pass an indoctrination test with a score of at least 85 percent. AMOT members can opt out of the test if they attend the annual training session offered by the academy.
Interested participants should register for the AAP or AMOT program by creating a profile on the CGA website at the following link.
You will be notified of acceptance via email, so please use an email account that you regularly monitor (personal or .mil address).
