Coast Guard Inspirational Leadership Awards seeking 2022 nominations

By MyCG Staff

The Office of Leadership, (CG-128), is proud to present the 2022 Inspirational Leadership Awards. These annual awards recognize Coast Guard personnel who best exemplify the Coast Guard’s Core Values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty for the 2021 calendar year. Nominations are now being accepted for the following Inspirational Leadership Awards:

In addition, nominations are now being accepted for the following Navy League Leadership Awards:

  • CAPT. David H. Jarvis Inspirational Leadership Award (officer active duty)
  • SM1 Douglas A. Munro Inspirational Leadership Award (enlisted active duty)

Please note that policy for these awards is outlined in Recognitions Program Manual; however, detailed award criteria and nomination guidelines for each award are outlined on the COMDT (CG-128) website

Forward nominations to Commandant (CG-128) through your chain of command. Note: If a commanding officer is nominated, the next level command should endorse the nomination.

New page endorsements that include additional comments or information will not be accepted. Only a signature endorsement on the nomination memorandum will be accepted.

Nominations should directly address individual leadership methodologies and climate rather than simply reporting unit accomplishments.

The Witherspoon, McShan, and Putnam Inspirational Leadership Awards require a signature endorsement by the first O-6 in the nominees’ chain of command. There is no need to go any higher as it will not bear any weight during panel deliberations.

Start writing and routing the nominations now! The busy holiday season is right around the corner, don’t let it get in the way of recognizing our great leaders in the field.
