The U.S. Coast Guard is inviting families to Bring Your Children to OUR Work Day on Thursday, April 22.
We know it's been a hard year, so we want to do something special for all of America's kids. Coast Guard units around the world will bring children (grades K-12) aboard cutters, planes, helicopters and more in a series of virtual field trips.
Our active duty military members will welcome kids aboard for fun activities that highlight careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).
This is as real as it gets! You'll see what it's like on the deck of a cutter - hint, it is LOUD! You'll go on a rescue mission in extreme cold weather. You'll meet one of our flight crews, then go for a helicopter trip around the Hawaiian islands. You'll help test a mystery substance - and yes, there is a blowtorch involved. These are just a few of the amazing experiences we've lined up for you.
Check out the video above to get a sneak peak!
Then come join us this Thursday, April 22. We'll post videos throughout the day on Facebook, and our active-duty military members will try to respond to all your questions in the comments section under each video!
Or, if you prefer not to go on social media, you can find every single video on MyCG at 9 a.m. EDT Thursday. Along with each video, you'll find a list of key terms and suggested resources to help you learn more about each topic.
We can't wait to see you on Thursday, and show you how the Coast Guard stays Semper Paratus - "Always Ready" - to keep our country safe.
