USCG civilians aid nationwide COVID-19 vaccination effort: There are currently nine United States Coast Guard civilian personnel deployed as part of the Surge Capacity Force supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)-led vaccination efforts across the country. Five Coast Guard civilian personnel have volunteered to support the Department of Homeland Security Volunteer Force to assist the Department of Health and Human Services with operations along the southwest border. 

The Coast Guard Academy (CGA) has a new women’s rowing coach: Andriel Doolittle was named the women’s rowing coach at the Coast Guard Academy. Coach Doolittle was previously head coach at Ohio Wesleyan for three years, where she established a new Division III varsity-rowing program.
 
New CGA Strength & Conditioning Center honors former NFL defensive back and Coast Guardsman: The Academy recently unveiled the Emlen Tunnell Strength & Conditioning Center. The $3.5 million project was made possible by the Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association and is named in honor of the former NFL defensive back and Coast Guard veteran, Emlen Tunnell. The center will help develop future generations of Coast Guard athletes and continue to honor Tunnell's legacy by inspiring cadets to reach their potential in the field, in the fleet, and in their daily lives.
 
Congratulations to the U.S. Coast Guard COPERNICUS Award recipients: This year’s Coast Guard COPERNICUS Award recipients are Cmdr. Dennis Good (C5I Service Center), Lt. Michael Overstreet (C5I Service Center), Chief Warrant Officer Pedro Sullivan (CGCYBER), and Petty Officer 1st Class Rustian Dunn, an electronics technician aboard Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous, a Medium Endurance Cutter. This award is sponsored by the 2020 Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the U.S. Naval Institute Copernicus Awards program. The purpose of the award is to recognize individual contributions to operations and mission support within the cyberspace domain and is available to all C4IT personnel.
