Trying to decide whether or not to get vaccinated?

By Keisha Reynolds, MyCG Writer

Dr. Manuel Torres, retired epidemiologist and father of Capt. Roberto H. Torres, executive director of The Interdiction Committee (TIC) at Coast Guard Headquarters, will be this week’s Wellness Wednesday guest today, February 17, from 3-4 p.m.,EST.

As an epidemiologist, Dr. Torres’ area of expertise is “zoonotic” contagious diseases, which includes particularly harmful pathogens that come from animals. Dr. Torres will share his first-hand experiences in the field of medicine and offer insights you may want to consider when deciding whether or not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Torres completed a full career as a research scientist working at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he worked with Dr. Anthony “Tony” Fauci.

Dr. Torres will be joined by his son, Capt. Torres. “I want to help tell his story,” said Capt. Torres. “My father was one of the first to volunteer for the Moderna Trial, even at the age of 78. We want to help folks by providing practical answers to common questions regarding the safety of the vaccines.”
