The Coast Guard has released the results of its first Master Chief Advancement Panel (MCAP). Congratulations to all!
Creating an MCAP was one of Admiral Schultz’s top priorities upon assuming his role as Commandant. This new advancement panel will serve as a talent management tool that will strengthen the senior enlisted corps by incorporating qualitative information found in a member’s record, with a focus on professionalism, leadership, and performance.
"The Coast Guard has made history in producing our very first Master Chief Advancement Panel list. The way we make senior enlisted leaders will be crucial for retention and the future success of our service," said Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Jason Vanderhaden. "Creating the MCAP was an early action item for the Commandant and I, and would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has worked so hard on this effort over the past two years."
The MCAP replaced the E-9 Servicewide Exam. All members who completed eligibility requirements for advancement to E-9 were reviewed by the panel, regardless of intention to compete for advancement.
The following Senior Chiefs, listed by rate and in order of merit, are recommended and eligible for advancement to Master Chief. PSC expects to announce initial cuts for Master Chiefs around the beginning of December.
