Readiness notifications come to you

By Chief Warrant Officer Allyson Conroy, MyCG Staff

Beginning Oct. 1, members will receive Coast Guard Business Intelligence (CGBI) notifications informing them when there is a change in their readiness status in any of the 17 current categories. Prior to this, members could set the CGBI notification tool to notify them monthly or as their status changes.

“We are using technology to help our members stay better informed of their readiness,” said Senior Chief Carl Boehmer, the senior enlisted adviser with the Coast Guard’s Personnel Readiness Task Force. “When there is a change of status, you will now be notified of that change, allowing you to be more informed of what you need to do in order to maintain readiness. The notifications are color-coded: green for ready, yellow for needs attention, and red for overdue.”

The CGBI notification tool has been around since 2006, and was initially intended to assist reservists in maintaining their readiness. This capability is also available to active duty and civilians.

“Maintaining a force that is mission-ready is one of our priorities as a service,” Boehmer said. “This is one tool that will help our people achieve that goal.”
