Good Order and Discipline: Fiscal Year 2023 Fourth Quarter report

Leaders throughout the Coast Guard are encouraged to share this message with their units and talk about the importance of adhering to the Coast Guard’s core values.

An Auxiliary vessel, NUSAR, and crew returns to Coast Guard Station Michigan City after completing a training exercise involving a paddleboarder in distress. This Chicago-based crew traveled across Lake Michigan from Coast Guard Station Chicago for a joint operations training event in Michigan City, Indiana involving active duty, Reserve and Auxiliary personnel in September 2023. The event included both fixed-wing aircraft and small boats - for this exercise, an AUXAIR crew spotted the paddleboarder in the water and routed the coordinates through the watchstanders to the small boats.
