Solicitation: Innovative ideas that could become projects in FY22

As fiscal year 2020 draws to a close, the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) and Innovation Program is already looking to the future. The RDT&E and Innovation Program is asking you – all military, civilian, reserve, auxiliary and contract personnel – to submit research ideas for the FY22 RDT&E Project Portfolio. Ideas, lessons learned, or suggested best practices are due Sept. 11, 2020. We invite you to submit your ideas to the CG_Ideas@Work, or by email to research@uscg.mil.

The New York Times bestselling cookbook, “Salt Fat Acid Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking,” might seem an unusual choice for the Coast Guard’s annual professional development reading list. But the book “helped me disconnect from a demanding staff assignment,” explains Lt. Austin Fullmer, in the Ninth District. “If being able to roast a whole buttermilk chicken on my own doesn’t signify personal growth, I don’t know what does!”

New USCG app helps you be a crime-stopper

The Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) just launched a mobile app, CGIS TIPS, that anyone can use to help fight crime. It’s also available at www.uscg.mil/cgis.

You can remain anonymous when you make a report! You won’t need to worry about providing identification.
