Coast Guard drones can see underwater and inside vessels during response to hurricanes and extreme weather events

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Dylan Zechman of the Gulf Strike Force launches a short-range drone over Louisiana in early September 2021 to make damage assessments after Hurricane Ida. Zechman, an FAA-certified drone pilot, averaged three to four flights a day during his mission, forwarding images to Central Command for evaluation and action.
