Suicide Prevention Program | Office of Work-Life Programs
The Coast Guard's Suicide Prevention Program serves all Coast Guard employees and their families. Resources include Operational Stress Control and CISM tools, Command Toolkits, and ACE (Ask, Care, Escort) Cards and other resources to help those in distress. The program's website also includes links to Military Treatment Facilities, local HSWL offices, Coast Guard Chaplains, and access to 24/7 online, confidential support with trained professionals.

Sexual Assault Prevention, Response, & Recovery (SAPRR) Program
The Coast Guard’s Sexual Assault Prevention, Response, and Recovery (SAPRR) Program educates the total force on sexual assault and how to prevent it; provides responsive, trauma-informed care to victims; advises leaders on all sexual assault matters; prioritizes the needs of victims and aids their journeys toward healing by advocating for all available recovery tools; recognizes Coast Guard service members and civilians who take action to stop sexual assault from occurring; and supports the SAPRR professionals who care and advocate for victims.

Family Advocacy Program | Domestic and Child Abuse Assistance
Everyone deserves to be healthy and safe in their relationships. Help is available through the Coast Guard’s Family Advocacy Program including: advocacy and safety planning, assessment and treatment planning, ongoing case management and risk monitoring, as well as, resource and referral services.

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance
Coast Guard’s Mutual Assistance Program is the official relief society of the U.S. Coast Guard. Assistance is provided under a large variety of conditions including: emergencies, housing, and medical needs that are beyond the individual’s ability to meet at the time assistance is requested.

Coast Guard Foundation 
The foundation’s programs assists families financially or otherwise, during times of tragedy and disaster.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration 
This site details counseling services for mental health and substance abuse and provides treatment locator resources.

Safe Helpline 
The DoD provides anonymous and confidential support for people who have survived sexual assault and need help dealing with its impact. Please call 877-995-5247; live chat is available from the Web site.

National Sexual Assault Hotline 
Confidential and trained support personnel will help you find a health facility that offers forensic exams and can assist you in the next steps toward your recovery. The hotline is 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).

National Domestic Violence Hotline 
Provides access to highly-trained advocates 24/7/365 to talk confidentially with anyone experiencing domestic violence, seeking resources or information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship: 1-800-799-7233 or chat at www.hotline.org

Military Crisis Line

The Military Crisis Line is staffed by caring, qualified responders—many of whom are veterans themselves. They understand what service members have been through and the challenges that members and their loved ones face.

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors 
Offers compassionate care to all those grieving the loss of a military loved one.

Coast Guard Legal Assistance
Coast Guard legal assistance attorneys provide advice and counseling regarding personal legal issues for service members, dependents and retirees at no-cost. These issues may involve family law, estate planning, consumer law, landlord-tenant relations, immigration or many other topics.

Coast Guard Substance Abuse Prevention Program
This program is available to active and reserve service members and is a resource for those needing to overcome a chemical or substance abuse dependency.

Operation Homefront 
This program provides services to military families including transitional housing, financial assistance, holiday meals and toy drives.

Fisher House Foundation 
This foundation provides comfortable lodging, free-of-charge, that military and veteran families can stay in while their loved one is in the hospital. They also offer a variety of other programs to support the military community.


Natural/Manmade Disasters

Disaster Distress Helpline 
This national helpline is for those experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters; 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Spanish speakers are also available. Visit the Web page or call 1-800-985-5990.

Disaster Assistance 
The Disaster Assistance Improvement Program provides disaster survivors with information, support, services, and a means to access and apply for disaster assistance through joint data-sharing efforts between federal, tribal, state, local, and private sector partners.

Ready.gov 
Get ahead of a critical situation. This site prepares you how to be ready during disasters like severe weather, or the impact such conditions can have on your home environment, like flooding.

American Red Cross

This organization assists military families and veterans with the challenges of military services—volunteers provide services within hospitals and on Bases, and they support families with resources during deployments and emergencies. CPR training is available and families can receive free smoke detectors for home use. The American Red Cross Hero Care Center verifies and communicates family emergencies to unit commands. *Ombudsmen can also communicate emergencies to unit commands.
