Increasing Maritime Commerce
As new challenges arise associated with increasing maritime commerce, the Coast Guard will continue to promote a safe, efficient and resilient Marine Transportation System. Coast Guard members from Aids to Navigation Team Puget Sound, in Seattle, and the Coast Guard Cutter Henry Blake, homeported in Everett, Wash., work together to align a bucket full of concrete suspended from a Coast Guard Air Station Astoria MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter over the Ewing Island Reef in Washington. The concrete creates a foundation for a reconstructed Ewing Island Danger Daybeacon, which will replace the floating aid to navigation known as the Ewing Island Reef Danger Buoy.
