Career questions? Don’t miss next OPM Roadshow on April 17th!

By MyCG Team

Editor’s note: The next Roadshow will be held April 17th at 2 p.m. Topics to be covered are afloat assignments. Join here or go to the OPM-4 homepage for more information. This article was originally published February 21, 2024.

The Career Management Branch (OPM-4) will host hour-long, virtual sessions with a primary emphasis on facilitating questions from the fleet to ensure officers have ample time to engage directly with their Assignment Officers (OPM-2), representatives from the Boards, Promotions, and Separations Branch (OPM-1), and the Officer Evaluations Branch (OPM-3).

Virtual Q&A Sessions will start with a brief synopsis of relevant topics, updates to policies, trends and best practices and then move to a Q&A. Questions can be submitted ahead of the event by emailing OPM-4 at HQS-SMB-CGPSC-OPM-4@uscg.mil or can be posed during the session. The OPM-2 sessions will afford those transferring in AY25 the opportunity to interact with their Assignment Officers.

This year’s sessions will take place on Wednesdays. The dates of the virtual Q&A sessions are listed below:

  • Feb. 28, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-3) Officer Evaluations/OSMS 2.0
  • March 6, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-4) Career Guidance/CG-4082/Promotions and Command Recommendations/Mid-Term Counseling
  • March 27, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-1) Promotions/Post Graduate School
  • April 3, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Support/Special Assignments
  • April 10, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Intel/DCMS and Cyberspace Assignments
  • April 17, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Afloat Assignments
  • April 24, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Aviation Assignments
  • May 1, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Response Assignments
  • May 8, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Prevention Assignments
  • May 29, 2024, 2 p.m. ET: (OPM-2) Chief Warrant Officer Assignments

These sessions are designed to generate conversations that promote professional development.

If practical, commands with officers are encouraged to host these viewings in consolidated locations. To utilize these roadshows to their fullest extent, come prepared with questions! Wardrooms should meet prior to scheduled sessions and review the information on OPM’s SharePoint site. This information will guide the discussion between OPM and the officer corps and educate the fleet on the current trends and policies affecting their assignments, promotions, and evaluations.
